It’s hard to write about 2017 when I am still writing the date as 2015!
Exciting news this week from American Girl author Kathleen Ernst, author of the Caroline books and many of the AG mysteries. She is currently writing a new book for American Girl which will be released in 2017. She isn’t able to say whether it is a new character or a book for an existing character, but I know it will be great either way. Secretly, I hope it is a new character because it was sad to see Caroline go. I appreciate that the Caroline books featured her relationship with her father as a main theme.
My favorite Ernst book to recommend to you (all ages) is Betrayal at Cross Creek about the Scottish immigrants forced to take sides during the American Revolution.
I hope you considering following Kathleen’s blog . . . maybe she will throw her fellow history lovers some more hints 🙂

How exciting! I adore all of Caroline’s books and love the father-daughter theme, too. I am sure any future books written by Kathleen Ernst will be fabulous!

I agree…good news no matter what. Her Chloe Ellefson mysteries for grown-ups are fab too. When Brianna was in third grade she wrote a letter to Kathleen and she replied right from her home address. She was the only kid in 3rd grade who got a response from an author!

Oh that does sound exciting. I’m almost finished reading Caroline’s books for the very first time and I’m really enjoying them. It was neat to see how much she grew in the series from being a slightly spoiled girl to being a young lady willing to make sacrifices without complaint.

I’m glad you are up to Caroline on your reading list. I would love to have that little embroidered map that AG sold. Did you find a pre-BF set of books to read? I am starting on Lea… Poor Grace… Haven’t even gotten to her!

Yes, I bought Caroline’s boxed six book set. I feel like I have to have the box set of each historical doll I own because the books are so important.
You’ll have to tell me what you think of Lea. I’m probably going to wait a long time to read her books, mainly because if she goes on a 30% off sale at the end of the year, I’m very sure I’ll get her and then I’ll read her books. I’ve been seeing photos of her in clothes besides her own and oh is she beautiful.

I heard a report from AG employees that they are having a meeting in the coming weeks about a new historical character for 2017. She already has lots of accessories and outfits designed but no one knows any more details until after the meeting. Kathleen Ernst’s book is the next historical perhaps?
