Santa Finds Gabriela

Well, surprise surprise… Santa found Gabriela’s new book!

I read the first few pages and I’m happily impressed.  Gabriela’s mom owns a community dance studio and Gabriela also has a gift for dance.  The book opens in Gabriela’s tap dance class, taught by Mama, or “Miss Tina”.  Mama likens the girls in the class to Savion Glover’s dancers.  Savion Glover is a famous African-American tap dancer; you might know him as the “feet” behind the movie “Happy Feet”.  See below for a clip of Savion dancing with a “Happy Feet” penguin.

Gabriela goes by the nickname “Gabby.”

No better way to say hello to the 2017 GOTY than also saying good-bye to the 2016 girl.  Lea’s bracelet came along with the book.

If Santa didn’t bring you the new American Girl book, check your local Barnes and Noble.

I only read the first chapter, since it was a gift to Brianna…. it I thought the first chapter was very promising. It’s terrific to have an AA character in contemporary times!

I really like the new American Girl doll that’s coming out January 1st because she is my favorite doll in the whole world and she kinda reminds me of Gabriella Montez from High School Musical on the Disney Channel show that I like to watch!

Interesting connection to High School Musical! I’m curious to see what Gabriela’s hair will be like and whether the curls will be difficult to maintain. Caroline’s curls can be a challenge! How was your Christmas?
