New Nanea News

I’m feelin’ the alliteration today.

American Girl announced that today (4/11) is Nanea’s birthday, which is a bit odd considering she isn’t here yet.  They have not revealed the Year of her birth.

In this same Facebook post, the company said:

  • Nanea will not have perma panties
  • She does have ‘sleep eyes’
  • She will be released in “early fall”
  • She has a cloth body and will fit in all AG clothes
  • They will provide the phonetic pronunciation of her name soon
  • The company said they don’t know anything about her vinyl being soft but her heart ❤️ is
  • There will be a GOTY in 2018 (here’s to hoping it’s not another TrulyMe doll with a mole or freckles painted on)

I am really looking forward to seeing her collection.  I hope her clothes fit older dolls!

Ooh! A GOTY 2018! I’m so excited! I was really sad when I heard all the rumors about Gabriella being the last GOTY, but now I’m happy again! ;D

That surprised me, too. I guess we are learning this year that they really want to release a lot of dolls every year. I’m ok with that if the quality is good. At the school I work at we have Tenney’s book out but barely any kids have seen the doll.

    Thank you for the update.

We can deduce her birth year. If she is 10 and she is supposed to be WWII related with focus on the attack of Pearl Harbor (December 7, 1941) then she would have been born in 1931.

I’m not quite used to the new face mold but I am excited to see this collection. I’m feeling the desire to create a Pinterest board for her.

I think the new mold suits her Polynesian heritage. She reminds me a lot of the child actors featured in Elvis’s Hawaii based movies.

I’d probably save a few Nanea pins. 🙂

Xyra, I am having trouble posting up to your blog. I have this problem with blogspot sometimes where it doesn’t want to give me the Capcha thing (Sharry’s blog, too). I wrote, “Crenshaw is very good. If you have seen the film Harvey you might feel a connection there. I like the narrator’s voice which reminds me a little of another favorite book “Deliver Us from Normal.” I love a narrator who is so honest it is a little painful.”

I LOVE her! Can’t wait for her to come home (as long as she really doesn’t have permapanties)! The rumor I’ve heard is she’ll be released 8/24 and descriptions of her books are already on amazon.

I have book #1 on preorder from AMZ. Just so thrilled about Kirby Larson. “Hattie Big Sky” is such a terrific book and I have always wanted to create a Hattie AG doll.
I’m pretty excited about this one!

I am too. What’s not to love about Kirby Larson. Plus she has previous books dealing with war, like Hattie Big Sky, and Japan, like “Friendship Dolls.” This could be a home run in my book.

I’m really intrigued by her necklace. It’s so unique. As I mentioned I feel I need to dig into Pinterest for some references to this time period. Have you been to Hawaii? I would love to go but I hear the flight back is brutal.

No, I haven’t been to Hawaii, but my husband’s brother’s wife is half Hawaiian and they have been there several times to visit family that still live there. I hear it is beautiful.

Wow Jen, I didn’t know you were having trouble posting on my blog. Unfortunately, Blogspot has made some changes I have no control of. You might try using a different browser like Opera. I don’t know if that would help, but it’s worth a try.
