Flat Rate Shipping?

News today on Facebook and IG that American Girl is launching a new flat-rate shipping of $5.95 tomorrow with no min purchase.  It sounds like this will run for a while but “restrictions apply” and check their website for details.

I’ll be darned if they aren’t listening to us!

Did you see the report on AGPT that they may be running it for employees to,test a new website? Seems kind of far fetched but…..

My first thought when I saw this was that it was a test to see if it boosted sales or not. Seriously, once you reach a certain dollar amount in an order, it should be free! Lands End has been doing that for YEARS on orders $50 and over. They have a similar profit margin too, so I don’t see why AG can’t do it. And in all honesty, I regularly make sure I spend $50 because I’d rather do that than spend that money on shipping!

Flo, when are they going to make us CEO and COO? I have had a suspicion for a while that shipping is a key element of their profits, which is so messed up. It’s to like they are shipping glass or something that warrants increased shipping costs.

Agreed, we’d make all sorts of money and the customers would love us! Seriously though, in this day of heavy competition, you would think they would wake up and realize that almost all of the companies that are big players in the market offer free shipping at some tier. Walmart, Amazon, Lands End, even LEGO! They need to get with the times, and quit paying their current CEO and COO ridiculous amounts of money. Sometimes you’ve got to spend money to make money! It’s also a great way to clear out some of those less expensive clearance items as often times, people will add those when they are close to the dollar amount just to get the free shipping. No brainer to me. (perhaps I need to do a post on this subject as well???)

And don’t forget Target… 35.00 ships free. Plus, the more you sell, the more people will get hooked and buy again. Or so I’ve heard. I have a suspicion that adult and teen/tween collectors are a major source of revenue outside the holiday season.
