Final installment of the Great Rummage Haul!

This is the t-shirt that goes with the In-line skate outfit from 1996.  There was no sign of the rest of the outfit.  I believe the shirt was .50 cents.  It was designed be worn with bike shorts.  Look how long the shirt is!  AG hasn’t used this much fabric on a t-shirt since I don’t know when!

Next up is the Birthday Outfit from 1998.  It did not have the purple scrunchie or the white t-shirt with purple trim.  Who needs that when you have purple jelly shoes!

Again, a lot of fabric!  The dress has a very loose fit.  Note to self – see if there is a National Fruit Salad Day and a schedule blog post with this dress.

Next up, Kit’s hat and purse. Fifty cents and .25 cents, respectively.

Finally we have some boots – sort of an AG version of Doc Martens.  What sold me on these was the wonderful natural lug sole.  These were $2.00.

These boots were a part of the 1996 School Jumper outfit.  At this sale, most of the shoes were separated from the outfits, probably from lack of knowledge.  I thought these would be great for selling on eBay but I’m not sure I can part with them.  I just love the detail.

Are you ready for the things I passed on?  I’m afraid to tell you!

  • Samantha’s school desk, no accessories, still there on second day for 7.50
  • Another desk… not sure if it was AG or not
  • Samantha’s hat and muff
  • 1996 Violin
  • 1998 Holiday Bibs, which I was tempted by but not in good condition
  • Snowflake jumper outfit
  • First Day outfit (might regret that…)
  • Year 2000 outfit – we already have the recent PwP outfit made from the same sparkly purple material
  • Molly’s pajamas
  • Other PC Samantha outfits.  Had it been Kirsten I would have bought it all.

I also picked up Kailey’s book at another rummage this past weekend.  I have never read that one and look forward to it.

Brianna is at camp this week, which leaves me plenty of time to play.  I am working on a photo story for Maryellen, naturally, and will be back with you very soon!

    In 1998 I had similar long loose dresses like that. What memories, and what finds! I can’t beleive the prices for an estate sale! I’m glad you rescued such treasures but… How could you pass up all that other great stuff! I know, I have to work on my AG weakness to buy everything I see but my girls and dolls don’t need. Aggghhh 😉😍

      I know! The 90s clothes were definitely a different era. Dare I say… historical? LOL! My daughter thought the in line skate t shirt was pretty weird… big and boxy. As a parent I say, bring this look back!
      It is hard to pass things up, but I have a small house , which maybe is a good thing. I don’t have a doll room so I have to make it work. Thankful for my tolerant husband!

    It’s funny – Back in 2013, I sold most of my original AG collection at half retail because I needed the money for rent, etc (1996-2000s outfits). I knew they were going to a great home (an AG-obsessed little one, whose mom told me later that her daughter and her daughter’s friends played with everything for hours at the birthday party). But, nostalgia got the better of me. I reacquired several outfits in the last year, mostly through AG Facebook groups, and I’m happy to have reclaimed some of my childhood! I can’t wait to get my Stephanie from my parents’ house very soon.For my birthday, my husband is helping me design and build a custom doll cabinet / display case for my “Lady Lounge.”

      I’m sorry that you don’t have your original collection, but how fun to be able to create a new setup that is meaningful to you now! I like the sound of this Lady Lounge with custom cabinet!!! I hope you’ll share the details as they unfold. Is Stephanie a MYAG? Do you have an interest in current products or do you hope to “go vintage”?

    Cool finds! I had a couple loose style dresses too, so comfy. I want to go back to the 90’s!

    I think you got the best things they had. Sometimes it’s hard to pick and choose though.

      Thanks for saying so. In an ideal world, there would be all things and room to store them in a Martha Stewart curated manner. I just don’t want to have stuff I can’t even find… and I’m approaching that!

      I thought of you when I saw the violin! I have lived with both a violin and a clarinet taking up residence next to my foyer. I don’t need to be reminding dolls to practice too!

      Yes, the soles made me buy them straightaway. They are surprisingly easy to get on, too, compared to some of the historical boots… maybe because the original outfit had chunky tights inside. I enjoyed catching up on your blog yesterday. WordPress is supposed to be sending me your posts but it’s not doing a good job at that!

    Do NOT part with those boots!! They are the best pair of shoes AG has ever made (imho). Sturdy, realistic, go with almost everything. Just be careful if wearing them without socks (although who wears this type of show without socks or tights?).

    Yes, back in the early days when outfits were designed to allow for layering as well as easy on and off.

    Fabulous finds! Keep up the good scrounging.

      OK! You convinced me. As I mentioned to Brenda, these boots are easy on, too. Rare for AG boots! At least this is an easy item to store 🙂

      When I tried the dress on a doll at first I wondered if it was Bitty, because it is so ample! Then I realized it would be way too long. I had to consult Heather about the item because I had a hard time finding what it was.

    Wow, those are some epic finds! I’ve always hoped of finding a great deal at a thrift store on American Girl items, and so far it hasn’t happened. I can dream, right? LOL. I loved your post, it was very interesting to see all you found! 😀

      Thanks. I harbor a secret wish to find a Kirsten out there at a rummage or thrift store. When my husband was a kid he would literally dream about finding “rare” Star Wars figures at a store. I guess it is part of human nature to want to discover things!

    I’ll be honest. I have no clue about dolls. Dare I say…I never had one? I guess that’s not too out of the ordinary for your typical male. But it looks like you have a fun niche. I used to collect those little army soldiers back in the day. Not sure where they are now, but I’m sure they’re in a box somewhere…feeling nostalgic, maybe I’ll rummage around!

      I know you have a son, but if you have a daughter some day you’ll have the American Girl experience! My husband got a new TV out of it. At AG Chicago I marveled at their great TVs–something I normally pay no attention to. That was all the clearance my husband needed to upgrade! American Girl’s newest doll is a Korean American stop motion videographer.
